What the workshop includes:
- Specific yoga postures for detox.
- Cleansing meditation.
- Pranayama (breathing exercises) for detox and cleansing.
- Ayurvedic practices such as self-massage, nasya (nasal medication), tongue scraping, etc.
- Use of herbs and teas.
- Diet recommendations.
- Lifestyle recommendations.
What to expect:
Our plan offers sustainable routines, allowing you to incorporate healthy habits and practices to support your busy lifestyle beyond the detox period.
Equal attention is given to the body and mind, as both are somehow responsible for digestion and elimination. How this applies to the body’s digestive system and urinary system is obvious. However, the mind digests sense perception and must let go of fear and control to surrender to what IS and go with the flow. For a detox to be effective, all channels of digestion and elimination must function and flow with ease.
Why our detox plan is suitable for everyone:
Ayurvedic diet and lifestyle recommendations can be specific to your dominant dosha – your unique constitution – however, this cleanse is tri-doshic, meaning it works for everyone.
What is a toxin?
A toxin is a substance that is harmful to the body. Toxins lead to an overload on the immune system and may lead to allergies and intolerances. Toxins are in the food we eat (pesticides), the water that we drink and the air that we breathe. Furthermore, even organic food may turn toxic if we have poor eating habits that cause undigested food to ferment in the intestines.
The effects of toxins in your body:
Do you ever wonder why you feel so tired, suffer from PMS, digestive disorders, headaches, joint pains, bad breath, allergies, constipation, brittle nails, skin eruptions, poor memory, depression, insomnia and so on? It is because we live in a toxic world and you may be inhabiting an increasingly toxic body.
For a time, your body will protect itself by trapping toxins in a ball of mucus so that they do not trigger adverse immune reactions. However, toxins eventually seep into the bloodstream and cell membranes, disturbing the metabolic function and causing tissue damage.
A detox clears our body and mind. The revitalised body and renewed clarity of mind offer us a perfect opportunity to cleanse other aspects of our lives, from negative people or situations that do not serve us, for example. Furthermore, a detox stimulates us to make healthy choices in all aspects of our lives.
Our body’s natural detoxification system – the lymphatic system – often cannot cope with our lifestyles, poor diets and exposure to environmental toxins. However, we can stimulate the cleansing process through a yoga detox practice and fasting.
Why detox during the change of seasons?
Ayurveda sees all of nature as made up of five elements: earth, water, fire, air and ether. During each season, a particular element is predominant. During summer we accumulate heat in the body then windy autumn makes our bodies dry and brittle and more susceptible to “breaking” under stress.
An AUTUMN detox helps recondition the body and strengthen it for the winter season. A SPRING detox helps revive the sluggishness that can follow the cold, wet winter and helps prevent allergies.
