How positive thinking can change your life

Create a better life experience with the powerful tool of positive thinking.

The way you think has a huge impact on the way you experience life. Whatever you believe about yourself and about life will become true for you, so positive thinking is the essential first step to a positive and progressive life experience.

Your life really all depends on how you see the world and yourself in it. How you think will create the mood or situation that sets you up for what could happen next. Whatever you think or believe about yourself is the image you will project and the way others will perceive you.

If even you do not believe that you are talented or capable or experienced enough for the job you want, how could any prospective employer ever believe that you are? On the other hand, if you are convinced that you are the right candidate for the job, you will have a better chance of winning them over with your confidence.

The place to begin to gain the love and acceptance of others is to love and accept yourself. The way to success is to believe you can succeed. The way to be happy is to believe you deserve it.

But it can be surprising just how many involuntary negative thoughts can go through our minds every day. By allowing ourselves to believe them, we are denying ourselves the opportunity to live more positively. If we modify our thoughts towards the positive side, we will experience an immediate improvement in our performance and in our life.

Positive thinking can create a different past, present and future. How can you change the past? Sure, you cannot change what happened, but you can change how you look at it. You can look at a challenging experience of the past with gratitude for the opportunity it gave you to grow stronger and wiser, for example, instead of feeling like a victim of circumstances.

You can actually decide on a positive experience of the present and future too. For example, can you imagine what a different situation you could be inviting into your life depending on how you feel right now? Feeling like a victim is likely to attract people or situations that need a victim and allow you to continue your victim role playing. When you feel like a winner, so much opportunity can open up for you to continue winning.

We may think that we have no control over how we feel, but we do. Think instead that feelings are just feelings; they are not us and we are not them, so we can choose to do something with them, even change them. The way we think can often change the way we feel.

The most difficult part of this change is to become aware of negative and destructive thought patterns as they are happening, just quickly enough so that the act of looking naturally inhibits any mental-emotional triggers from taking over. With practice, it becomes easier to make conscious choices of behavior that invite situations to flow in the most positive way for everyone. It is not a matter of just “Think before you act,” but “Think positively before you act.”

When you get stuck on a bad thought, just offer yourself a few alternative possibilities or points of view. When you have no certainty, remember that everything is possible and drop the story you were spinning in your head until you can ask the question or discover somehow. Dare to hope, to dream, to attempt, to love, to be vulnerable – it can be the ultimate source of your personal power.

When you think positively and keep a positive attitude, you will easily observe the difference in the way you react to situations and the way that situations react to you!
